Our Mission Statement: "Faith Begins at Home"

  • The Religious Education Program at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton believes that you, as parents, are the first catechists for your children.
  • We are here to assist parents, through our Religious Education Program, in nurturing children in their faith.
  • The children will learn how to pray, so they can grow their personal relationship with God.
  • They are introduced to Our Blessed Mother, Mary, who will always guide them toward her Son.
  • They will come to know that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist: Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.
  • Through worship and prayer, the children will learn that they have a part in building our Christian community.
  • Together, let us work together to teach our children how important our Catholic faith is to us.

Welcome to your first year of Faith Formation!

Our program begins in October, 2026 and ends in April, 2027.

This the start of a life-long journey in relationship with Jesus! Level 1 is the first of a two-year preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist.

During this year, children will be taught at home with their parents.  Parents and students are required to attend in-person meetings at St. Elizabeth's throughout the year.  Dates and time TBD.

All textbooks and materials will be handed out at our parent meeting in September, 2026.

Our Level 1 Program includes the following:

Mass:

The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith. It is the very center and essence of our relationship with God. Jesus said that “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you." (John 6:53) When we miss Mass, we spiritually starve ourselves. Therefore, Mass attendance each Sunday is required.

Each student will be given a "God Pass" ticket which needs to be placed in the collection basket at mass time

Alive in Christ: oUR sUNDAY vISITOR

All parents/grandparents will be provided detailed teacher notes to help guide and enhance their teaching experience.  The time spent with your child is a priceless gift as you both explore the Catholic faith together.  Videos and emails are sent out at the end of each Unit to recap what was just learned and to prepare you for the upcoming Unit.  Work is turned in every 3 weeks. Please contact the religious education office at any time as concerns arise.

Fun Church nights:

Look for fun in-person activities throughout the year!  We have Advent Wreath crafts, learn the parts of the church and family game nights.

Welcome to your second year of Faith Formation!

Our program begins in October, 2026 and ends in April, 2027.

Level 2 is the second of a two-year preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. Children must complete Level 1 before entering Level 2.

During this year, children will focus on the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. We call God Emmanuel, which means "God is with Us!"  God wants nothing more than to dwell in our hearts and by receiving the Eucharist, we are initiated into true communion and relationship with Him.

A few options on class dates and times will be offered and all classes will be conducted by a trained and Virtus certified catechist.  All classes will take place in our Parish Hall, times and dates TBD.  Classes will be meeting every other week for one hour.

Textbooks and materials will be provided to all registered children and will be given out at our Parent/student meetings in the fall.  All schedules will be emailed to you after registration ends on August 31st, 2026.

Our Level 2 Program includes the following:

The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith. It is the very center and essence of our relationship with God. Sacraments

Children at Level 2 will be receiving both Reconciliation (Confession) and First Holy Communion

Reconciliation will take place at the end of January, 2027.  First Holy Communion will take place on a Saturday in May, 2027. Dates TBD

Alive in Christ: Our Sunday Visitor

Children at this age are excited to be able to encounter Christ in the Eucharist.  They finally get to partake in the ceremony that they have only been able to watch up until this point.  This is a beautiful and powerful moment in the life of every Catholic. Children preparing to receive their first Holy Communion can sometimes miss just how special this moment is amid all the hustle and bustle of that “First Communion Day.” Our goal is to prepare your child for the precious gift of the Eucharist.

A sacramental fee of $75.00 is required for all Communion children.

Welcome to your third year of Faith Formation!

Classes begin in October of 2026 and end in April of 2027.

Over the next three years of faith formation, children will get to know Our Lord better through Scripture, Catechism, Prayer, and continual reception of the Sacraments.

During this year, children will focus on the God's plan for us. God has an amazing plan for each of us, but sin messed up that plan. That is exactly why He promised us a Savior! Level 3 will also focus on our beloved Mother, Mary.  Children will learn how to pray the rosary and learn how Mary points us to her son, Jesus.   Over the next three years, we will explore how God's Salvation plan unfolded in history in the most amazing and unexpected ways and how we still participate in that plan through the Catholic Church today!

All classes will be conducted by a trained and Virtus certified catechist.  All classes take place in our Parish Hall, times and dates TBD.  Classes will be meeting every other week for one hour.

Textbooks and materials will be provided to all registered children and will be given out at our Parent/student meetings in September.  All schedules will be emailed to you after registration ends on August 31st, 2026.

While we explore how God worked throughout history for our salvation, we will also dive into the Church that Christ established here on earth for us. Over the next three years, we will follow Brother Francis leading us through the Adventure Catechism, a series that answers the big questions about our faith from "Who is God?" to "What are the Virtues?" These lessons will be completed at home.

Welcome to your sixth year of Faith Formation! Level 6 is the first of a two year preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

During this year, children will focus on the Sacrament of Confirmation. Being Catholic isn't just a religion box we check or just one of many attributes that makes up a person. Its our identity in Christ that grounds us in our earthly mission: to get to Heaven and to bring as many people as we can with us! The Gifts of the Holy Spirit received in Confirmation help to do just that. This Sacrament isn't graduation or a completion, but rather, the very beginning of a new phase of our relationship with the Lord and His Holy Catholic Church.

Our goal this year is to get the students to talk in groups about their faith.  They will be presented with current events and real world situations where they can apply what they've learned on their faith journey. They will be reminded of the basics of the Catholic faith and how this is relevant to the world around them.

All classes will take place in our Parish Hall, times and dates TBD.  All classes will be conducted by a trained and Virtus certified catechist.  Classes will take place every other week and will be for one hour.

Textbooks and materials will be provided to all registered children and will be given out at our Parent/student meetings in September or October.  All schedules will be emailed after registration ends on August 31st, 2026.
