Welcome to your sixth year of Faith Formation! Level 6 is the first of a two year preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
During this year, children will focus on the Sacrament of Confirmation. Being Catholic isn't just a religion box we check or just one of many attributes that makes up a person. Its our identity in Christ that grounds us in our earthly mission: to get to Heaven and to bring as many people as we can with us! The Gifts of the Holy Spirit received in Confirmation help to do just that. This Sacrament isn't graduation or a completion, but rather, the very beginning of a new phase of our relationship with the Lord and His Holy Catholic Church.
Our goal this year is to get the students to talk in groups about their faith. They will be presented with current events and real world situations where they can apply what they've learned on their faith journey. They will be reminded of the basics of the Catholic faith and how this is relevant to the world around them.
All classes will take place in our Parish Hall, times and dates TBD. All classes will be conducted by a trained and Virtus certified catechist. Classes will take place every other week and will be for one hour.
Textbooks and materials will be provided to all registered children and will be given out at our Parent/student meetings in September or October. All schedules will be emailed after registration ends on August 31st, 2026.
Our Level 6 Program includes the following:
Mass
The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith. It is the very center and essence of our relationship with God. Jesus said that “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you." (John 6:53) When we miss Mass, we spiritually starve ourselves. Therefore, Mass attendance each Sunday is required.
Each student will be given a "God Pass" ticket which needs to be placed in the collection basket at mass time.
Venture: Pflaum gospel weeklies
Venture is a program geared to middle schoolers who want to learn more about the Catholic faith and how it works in the world. Every week, students will be presented with the gospel for the upcoming Sunday. They will discuss the scripture and be prepared to attend mass with an understanding of the Word ahead of time. They will also participate in "Daily Dilemmas" where they will openly discuss common issues being faced in middle school. This type of class is less of a classroom setting and more a discussion group. Each student will be expected to participate in the discussion.
community service
Each student will be required to submit 8 hours of community service. There are plenty of opportunities at St. Elizabeth's to help out. Look for emails or check our website for Community Service opportunities.
Saint Report
Each student will need to write about a Saint that they would be interested in choosing for their Saint name for Confirmation. Paperwork and google doc information will provided in your student's folder.
