Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton was one of three parishes formed in 1988 from St. Joseph’s Ronkonkoma, which had approximately 16,000 families registered at the time. As we celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2018, St. Elizabeth is still referred to as one of the new parishes. At first, Father Patrick Whitney, the founding pastor, celebrated Mass in the lower chapel at the Cenacle Retreat House. The parish offices were in a renovated storage facility on the Cenacle grounds. Work on a church began quickly and, in 1991, parishioners processed from the Cenacle through the streets of Ronkonkoma for the first Mass in the new church on Portion Road. Each ministry marched carrying a banner that contained a symbol representing the parish mission statement: Striving to make Jesus known, by our response to the Gospel, and guided by the Holy Spirit, the Community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is committed to being a vibrant, worshiping family that reaches out in love and friendship to all of God’s people. Our second pastor, Msgr. Daniel A. Picciano, was assigned in June 2006 and retired in June 2017. Our third and current pastor, Fr. Allan Sikorski, was assigned in June 2018. The parish has grown in leaps and bounds with approximately 2700 families registered, along with 500 children enrolled in Religious Education.
